May5

A celebration of Cinco de Mayo and our revolutionary sounds of the Beatles with contagious Latin beats: Cumbia, Mambo, Cha-Cha-Cha, Salsa, Bolero, Danzón, Reggaeton and more. On May 5, 1862 in Puebla, Mexico General Zaragoza and his outnumbered force of mostly mestizo (mixed Native-Spanish) and Native Zapotec fighters defeated 1,000 French troops sent by Napoleon III. Though not the end of the war, the Battle of Puebla became a symbol of Mexican resistance. Join us for food, fun and music at one of Silver Spring's best local music hubs, El Golfo.
