Celebrate the spirit of the Mexican revolution with Los Day Trippers' revolutionary infusion of the Beatles with contagious Latin beats: Cumbia, Mambo, Cha-Cha-Cha, Salsa, Latin Rock, Bolero, Danzón, Reggaeton and more. Join us for an evening of good food, drink and music at one of Silver Spring's best local music hubs, El Golfo. Dancing is encouraged. And for a little background on Cinco de Mayo: On May 5, 1862 in Puebla, Mexico, General Zaragoza and his outnumbered force of mostly mestizo (biracial Native/Spanish folk) and Native Zapotec fighters defeated 1,000 French troops sent by Napoleon III, who wanted to claim Mexico. The Battle of Puebla became a symbol of Mexican resistance during the short-lived French occupation (5-6 yrs). ¡Viva Mexico and viva la musica!

We reimagine the Beatles with an infusion of Latin beats and fun arrangements to your fave Fab Four tunes. Think mambo, cumbia, Latin rock, cha-cha-cha, bolero, salsa and more. Wheaton Arts Parade & Festival

Bring out your inner artist to a spirited arts parade and festival. Catch Los Day Trippers from 1:40-2:20pm on the Grandview Stage, one of three stages along the festival's parade route. Get creative and join us! Push, pull, carry, wear or perform your art. Or, find a spot to watch the bands, dance groups, artists, and large floats parade along the Wheaton triangle to the Marian Fryer Town Plaza. ​​​​From 10am-5pm enjoy non-stop entertainment, artists displaying and selling original work; and community organizations and county agencies with art making and giveaways. The festival features MoCo's top talent, including musicians presented by Strathmore and Carpe Diem Arts, showcases by local schools, and dance companies from ballet to hip hop. The entertainment is as diverse and exciting as the Wheaton community itself.

This year's 9th annual festival will be bigger than ever, expanding to include Parking Lot 13 and more of Grandview Ave. with an additional 20'x24' stage and dance floor, more booths for art vendors, more food vendors and a second Kids’ Zone with free face painting, balloon twisting and art making. Sat., May 3rd: Celebrate the Cinco de Mayo spirit to the revolutionary sounds of the Beatles with contagious Latin beats: Cumbia, Mambo, Cha-Cha-Cha, Salsa, Bolero, danzón, Reggaeton, Latin Rock and more. What's Cinco de Mayo all about?: On May 5th, 1862, Napoleon III sent 1,000 French troops into Puebla, Mexico as part an effort to establish a French satellite state. Mexican General Zaragoza and his outnumbered force of mostly mestizo (mixed blooded Native-Spanish) locals and Native Zapotec fighters defeated them. Though not the end of the war, the Battle of Puebla became a symbol of Mexican resistance and independence. Join us for food, fun and music at one of Silver Spring's best local music hubs, El Golfo. Groove into the early evening in this free outdoor concert series at one of National Landing’s newest park spaces, Metropolitan Park, on October 24th, from 4:30-6:30pm, with a short break at 5:15. Your joyful evening will also be supporting the Old Naval Hospital Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization on a mission to bring you high quality arts, education and cultural programming.
